The Tinder Foundation is working with UKonline centres to deliver the Future Digital Skills programme on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS). Through their local delivery network individuals are being helped to improve their Digital Skills. The programme has a special focus on engaging with learners who are unemployed, on a low income, have a disability or are based in a rural area. As a specialist organisation who is knowledgeable about the needs of the target audience we have successfully completed Year 1of this project and expect to commence delivery of Year 2 in April 2015. During 2014 we registered over 500 new learners and taught them how to use UKOnline's 'Learn My Way' resources to become more confident when using the internet.

One of our learners, Jaswant Nadiapara, 50, was made redundant from his plumbing job. He had trained to NVQ L2 standard, yet lacked the basic computing skills necessary for online job searching. He came to our centre and enrolled onto Learn my Way to find out how to go online. This helped him find work as a maintenance engineer for Homecare, even before his course had completed.

Jaswant said “ This has really helped improve my confidence with computing and I can now go online at home”.
